#EdTech #innovations

The establishment of ICT centres , which aim to improve computer literacy in rural Kenya through training, is one idea to support #digital #innovations in rural communities. The ICT centres serve as a focal point for #grassroot #innovations that can support training that results in the imparting of employable skills to the youth, which could necessitate the creation of business start-ups for willing adults.

Decentralizing the implementation of ICT training at the ward, sub-ward level and aiming to reach the village levels would require bringing ICT equipment and trainers closer to the people and ensuring that youth in the villages are imparted with employable IT skills, all of which are done in an effort to enable economic livelihoods, personal wellbeing, and social cohesion.

For this to function and for sustainability, the process must be user-centered and ensure a holistic digital ecosystem approach for the development of digital villages. This makes it possible for the local context to determine the modalities pursued, or, to put it another way, this is what we mean when we say that #publicparticipation. It is a concept that allows people-led projects and thus gives them a voice. i.e inclusivity of citizens in project management.

Images in brief include snippets of processes from concept to implementation/commissioning.
