Earlier, I had the honor of joining the organization of a training course for the Safaricom Engineering Community that was conducted at Wote Technical Training Institute (TVET) in partnership with the county’s department of ICT. Students from several college departments as well as those from other institutions participated in this rigorous two-day immersion event where they attended master classes in Internet of Things, telecommunications, design thinking, and quality engineering. The program aims to develop young people’s digital potential.

Participants in a break out session

I had an opportunity to share important lessons summed up as:
1. Examining the work that the county continues to carry out with focus to the county ICT initiatives in sparking up opportunities for youth within the county
2. What goes into innovation? #Edtech #AgriTech #opportunities and what we have at the county, #digital Tech hub
3. Young people aim to learn technology to assist them gain access to opportunities despite their areas of career focus which tends to lead to(increase to employability prospects and income generating capacities
4. Technology not synonymous to innovation and must look at problems with aim to build solutions not wait on government to provide
5. Courage to ask questions, network with fellows and build.
